AAI to develop airports abroad, to begin with Myanmar

New Delhi: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will now develop airports abroad too, like its Indian JV partners GMR and GVK groups. AAI has signed an agreement with the ministry of external affairs for preparation of detailed project report (DPR) in first phase for development of Kalay Airport as greenfiled airport in Myanmar.
Anil Gupta, AAI’s executive director (land management and business development), said the authority has developed more than 60 airports in metro and non metro cities in India and now wants to leverage its expertise to other countries on a larger scale. Gupta signed the agreement with for the Kalay Airport with MEA’s senior official Ankan Banerjee on Tuesday.
