Srinagar: Minister of State Aviation, Jayant Sinha on Thursday announced night landing facility and international connectivity at the Srinagar International Airport within the next six months.
Sinha, who was addressing budding entrepreneurs at Ideas Summit-2017 organised by the Foundation for Resource Development and Education at SKICC here, said the government would start working on improving the visibility at Srinagar airport for night flights.
“We will build Approach Landing System to increase the visibility at Srinagar airport to facilitate night landing as soon as possible,” he said.
He said that the number of flights to the valley will subsequently increase by extending this facility to Srinagar airport.
“If we have some 40 flights a day at Srinagar airport, more flights will be added,” Sinha said.
He said the government was also contemplating to improve the connectivity by facilitating the international flights at the airport.
“This destination deserves direct connectivity. So, we discussed the issue and have decided to start direct flights from Srinagar airport to Kuala Lumpur and Dubai in the coming six months. With this, an atmosphere of peace will be built in the valley,” he said.
