Guwahati: Budget airline SpiceJetBSE 1.64 % on Tuesday launched a flight from Assam's Dibrugarh to Guwahati, becoming the only airline to offer daily direct connectivity between the tea city of India and the state's largest city.
Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the first flight from Dibrugarh. Having a flight on the Dibrugarh-Guwahati-Silchar route will help facilitate increased trade and commerce in the state, he said.
Dibrugarh is the 50th destination to which SpiceJet offers air connectivity. The airline is flying its Bombardier Q400 aircraft on the new route.
Jet Airways, which previously operated on the Dibrugarh-Guwahati route, suspended the flight three months back.
