The Kalaburagi district administration is hoping that the work on the airport will be completed by March next year. If all goes as per plans, the trial runs for aircrafts are expected to be held by the end of December. A meeting in this regard is likely to be held next week that will be presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, representatives from the Airport Authority of India, Karnataka State Infrastructure Development Department and PWD.

The tender process is on for the third phase works related to runway lighting, important buildings, navigation system and so on. The work related to the buffer zone is in progress and is expected to be complete in a month’s time. The project is being undertaken by the PWD and the Hyderabad-Karnataka Regional Development Board (HKRDB).
