Pune: The city airport is in 35th position among 306 airports worldwide and third in the country in the quality of services provided to passengers.
The airport's ranking improved by nine spots globally in the survey for the second quarter (April to June) of the calendar year carried out by the Airports Council International (ACI) focused on the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) compared to the first quarter.
"A total of 17 airports from India participated in the survey. Among them, Pune airport stands third. The first place has gone to Lucknow airport," an airport official said.
"In terms of services, quite a few features, including international cargo export service, e-visa facility and duty free shops, have been added. The work regarding the extension of the runway of the airport is also on the anvil. Based on the feedback, services are being improved," the official said.
A source in the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in Delhi told TOI that the ACI had been conducting the survey for around five years on airports willing to participate in it. The study is focused on a total of 33 parameters on passenger services, including ground transportation to and from airport, parking facilities, availability of baggage carts, waiting time to check-in, time in queues, thoroughness of security inspection, time taken in security inspection and flight information screens.
