The facelift of Agartala Airport will begin next month, according to highly placed sources.
The tender process has already been completed with a South India-based construction giant emerging as the lowest bidder at Rs 438 crore.
“We are putting our best efforts to begin the work by next month itself. Once the work gets underway, the project is supposed to be completed in 36 months”, said an Airports Authority of India (AAI) official on condition of anonymity.
Centre has already sanctioned Rs 438 crore way back in 2015 but the modernisation work of the Airport could not be taken up due to various reasons.
Now, the required land has been handed over to AAI to undertake the project.
