Employees and officers of various agencies working at the Tiruchi international airport will have to furnish their Aadhaar card while applying for Airport Entry Pass (AEP) this year.
The new rule has been put in place based on a directive from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) to ensure effective monitoring and as measure to beef up security at airports.
The BCAS is a regulatory authority for civil aviation security in the country laying down standards and measures in respect of security of civil flights at international and domestic airports. It also monitors implementation of security rules and regulations.
Coming under the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, the BCAS has communicated its latest directive to the agencies involved in the preparation of the AEPs in all airports.
Airport sources here told ‘The Hindu’ that the BCAS has made it mandatory to furnish Aadhaar card while applying for the Airport Entry Pass.
