Mumbai: Problems in finding app based cabs at the airport will soon be a thing of the past with airport operator Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) offering an exclusive space to appbased cab aggregators right outside the arrival gates, as a strategy to clear them from the roads around the airport.
“The idea is to decongest the roads outside airport. Cars coming to the airport for picking up passengers are not supposed to linger outside the departure terminals. By offering them a dedicated area, we hope to improve commuting,” said an airline official.
Currently, cars plying for aggregators have to be parked at the pay-and-park lots at domestic and international airports. This translates to an additional parking fee on the commuter who end up shelling Rs 110 in parking costs over and above the fare.
With the new pact, riders who request an Uber, from both the domestic and international terminals, will only have to pay a single fee which will be all-inclusive and will be directly included in the rider’s receipt, thus making the airport experience more seamless. “For added convenience, Uber representatives will be on-ground at both airports to help travellers book an Uber and guide them to the pickup points,” a spokesperson of the cab aggregator said.
