The much-awaited first flying club of the state government is set to touch ground at Dumka on public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The state civil aviation department is in search of a private partner to run the club and willing to complete the basic formalities by next year.
There is a single private flying club functioning in the state, Jharkhand Co-operative Flying Club Limited near Sonari airport where commercial pilot training is provided with facilities like library and computer laboratories.
"We are inviting people to start the flying club. The courses and other desired formalities are yet to be framed. However, we are aiming to begin it in Dumka where a 4,000 feet runway is available," said the department's director Captain Surendra Prasad Sinha.
He further added, "Dumka is suitable for the club since it has the necessary infrastructure, software and other requirements." Sinha said the advertisement calling private partners was released around 15 days ago.
