Dehradun: The state government has chalked out a plan to provide air connectivity and civic infrastructure to people living in three and two-tier towns. The civic amenities are not up to the mark in two or three-tier towns.
“Both Department of Urban Development and Department of Civil Aviation have decided to work together to strengthen infrastructure and build helipads,” said Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary, Department of Civil Aviation.
The Department of Civil Aviation has invited tenders for 11 places where helipads have been planned. The places are Dakpathar (Dehradun), Ukhimath (Rudraprayag), Barkote (Uttarkashi), Bhatwari (Uttarkashi), Maneri (Uttarkashi), Mori (Uttarkashi), Munsiyari (Pithoragarh), Sosa (Pithoragarh), Tejam (Pithoragarh), Abot Mount (Champawat) and Garud (Bageshwar).
The process of building helipads is on in 37 other places and the work is expected to be completed by March 2017. Besides helipads, the authorities have decided to upgrade or built new infrastructure in Dakpathar and Hathipaon.
