Nagpur/Mumbai: In order to streamline the aviation network in Maharashtra, and connecting tier three cities like Gondia and Amravati through airways, the State Cabinet has now finalised a draft to give the project a go ahead.
Sources said that the state cabinet has given the finishing touch to its draft for signing an MoU with DGCA and AAI for development of 10 airports in the state.
The decision is in line with union government’s regional connectivity scheme. The 10 airports -Kolhapur, shirdi, Amravati, Gondia, Nashik, Jalgaon, Nanded, Solapur, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg will be developed where state will contribute 20% cost of Viability Gap Funding. The state is going to sign MoU on Tuesday with the authorities concerned.
