Mysuru: Stakeholders of the tourism industry in Mysuru are seeking direct flights between Mysuru and Kochi in Kerala as they feel this route would be a workable option if the footfall and traffic on weekends between the two cities is a pointer.
“On an average, over 200 taxis and private vehicles travel between Mysuru and Kochi and Kozhikode almost daily for tourism, shopping and business purposes. Commercial flight operations between the two cities can be explored as it’s a promising stretch,” said B.S. Prashanth, chairman, Mysore Travel Mart.
He told The Hindu that the Mysore Travel Mart had written to three private airlines recently to operate direct flights between Mysuru and Kochi on weekends or at least on Saturday, and the tour operators have assured 30 per cent pre-booking.
This option is particularly viable in the wake of rise in entry tax for tourist vehicles from Karnataka, he explained.
