SRINAGAR: Now travellers can take an evening flight from Srinagar to Delhi, with the norms being relaxed in this regards.
The first evening flight of GoAir was on Wednesday flagged off by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti from Srinagar International Airport, marking a significant development which is expected to go a long way in boosting tourism and help expansion of economic activity in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, she said the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Indian Air Force (IAF), on the request of the state government, have agreed to allow flight operations from Srinagar Airport up to 10 pm and the operators should now take advantage of this extended flight operation timing especially in the summer season, when there is maximum tourist inflow to Kashmir.
Ms Mufti said the government is working with various airlines and the Centre to connect Srinagar and Jammu airports with other cities of the country through direct flights and also start international flights from Srinagar airport.
GoAir will operate the flight at 6.40 pm daily for New Delhi, an official spokesman said.
The Chief Minister was informed that 34 flights were operating from the airport daily.
