A SpiceJet flight (SG487) from Mumbai to Kolkata was stranded at the Nagpur airport on Sunday night due to a technical snag. SpiceJet does not have regular service from Nagpur so there is no support or ground staff here. The plane therefore had to wait at Nagpur till a Spicejet Engineer could check it. A plane going from Kolkata to Goa on Monday morning brought the engineers here. The engineers repaired the snag and the stranded plane left for onward journey in the morning.
The 190 passengers aboard had to spend the entire night in the aircraft and were not granted airport access. A passenger aboard the stranded aircraft developed a heart problem and had to be taken to a city hospital as there was no chance of flight reaching Kolkata on time. An ambulance was called and the patient was shifted immediately to a hospital, where he is said to be out of danger.
