New Delhi: An Abu Dhabi-bound Etihad Airlines flight had to be called back from the runway at IGI Airport on Monday just before its departure following a phone call that there was a terrorist on board. The caller, identified as a Delhi-based doctor, said a man from Aligarh with terrorist links is on board.
"It was around 9am when the call was received. The woman, who was later identified as one Shweta from Sarojini Nagar, had also sent a photo of the suspect. Armed police personnel surrounded the aircraft, and all passengers were offloaded for checking," said Dinesh Gupta, DCP (IGI). A Delhi-based property dealer was detained but found to be clean, he added.
The flight, EY 229, which was scheduled to depart at 9.15am, was given clearance by 11am and took off by 11.45am.
