Enhanced frisking ending in chaos at IGI

New Delhi: Peak hours at the domestic terminal of IGI airport have become chaotic as the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been forcing all passengers to take off their shoes, belts and jackets for frisking. Senior officials said the rule was implemented from Tuesday on orders of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
Officials said BCAS has directed CISF as well as the airlines to tighten vigil. As a result, passengers are being asked to take their jackets, shoes and belts off for frisking. Additional deployment of security personnel for baggage checking, random checks and to deal with the increased number of passengers to has been made to ensure smooth passage.
"Airline staff has also been directed by the BCAS to ensure ladder point checking. A strict vigil is being kept keeping in the view the recent terror attack and Republic Day celebrations. The exercise will be carried out till further orders," said a senior CISF official.
