Srinagar: Terming the news report about maltreatment of a passenger by an airline staffer at Srinagar airport as baseless, SpiceJet has said the news appearing in a section of press here was unfortunate.
Describing the sequence of events, SpiceJet Srinagar Manager, Irfan Hussain Kanth said that a passenger Muhammad Aslam, who has levelled the allegations of cheating and causing discomfort to him by the airline staff, had arrived just five minutes before the boarding and when aircraft doors were already closed.
Passengers are required to report at the counter half an hour before boarding the aircraft. Reacting to the allegations of selling the tickets in black, Mr. Kanth said that there was no question of cheating as all tickets are sold by internet booking. “Once the plane is full on a particular date, the computerised system automatically rejects any further booking.” Moreover, the plane on this date had three empty seats, he said.
Mr. Kanth said that instructions overleaf of any ticket advise the passengers to arrive at the airport two hours before the flight timing:
As for the allegation that a lady Spicejet staffer tore down the ticket, Mr. Kanth said: “This gentleman on learning that he wouldn’t be able to board the plane, flew in rage and left the counter after tearing down the ticket.”
