Air India Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. V Thulasidas today laid the foundation stone of the state-of-the-art cargo handling facility at the new Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL). The project to be jointly developed by Air India (AI) and Singapore Airport Terminal Services Ltd. (SATS) will have two ware house floors with a gross floor area of 18,000 sqm. It will have a design capacity to handle more than 150,000 tonnes of Cargo.
As part of this joint venture, AI SATS aims to bring in the necessary professional expertise to build, operate and maintain the cargo facility, thereby achieving excellent domestic & international cargo operations. Both the entities will jointly invest more than Rs.80 Crores in the development of this project.
