Kathmandu: The Home Ministry has refuted the news reports regarding arms purchase and said that there was no Ukrainian cargo plane grounded at the Ahmedabad Airport in India as reported by some media.
Taking special time at the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting Monday, Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula furnished details about the rumour and said that Ukrainian embassy in New Delhi had sent a letter to Nepali embassy seeking permission to enter a charter cargo from Ahmedabad-Kathmandu-Ahmedabad on August 16, 2006.
However, the Defense Ministry had inquired about the purpose of the arms and clearly said that Nepal Army should not be given permission to allow the charter cargo to enter Nepal, Sitaula informed.
