Bangalore: The Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) Tuesday announced the selection of two consortiums for handling cargo operations at the upcoming international airport in Devenahalli, about 35 km from here.
The consortiums are Singapore Airport Terminal Services Ltd (SATS) with Air India and Bobba group with Menzies Aviation Plc of Britain.
'The strategic partners have been selected through an open bidding process involving technical and financial evaluation. The consortiums will make a combined investment of Rs.1.5 billion ($33.3 million) in setting up their operational facilities at the new airport,' BIAL chief Albert Bruner told reporters here.
In all, eight bidders participated in the global tender.
This is the first of the commercial agreements signed by BIAL in the run-up to commercialising the new international airport operations from April 2008.
